This document attempts to indicate the origin of each piece of software in the initial software configuration of a TransIT 2004 Fall notebook computer and information about update or upgrade of each software package. A companion document provides a more concise listing of the packages in the order in which they were installed to create that initial configuration.

The software in the initial configuration of a TransIT computer falls into two general categories. There is software found on media in the accessories box distributed by Dell with the computer (or related in some way to the software in the box) and there is other software not directly related to the Dell distribution materials. In the 2004 Fall accessories box, there are a total of six (6) CD-ROMS:

and, inside the Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 box, The distributed TransIT software configuration includes not only the software on these CD-ROMs but also a number of updates to that software available from the Dell and Microsoft websites. There are also three application packages installed that were found on the 2003 Dell Resource CD-ROM but were dropped from the 2004 CD-ROM and that may or may be found on the Dell website.
